Join the National Trust for Historic Preservation, the Virginia Department of Historic Resources (VDHR), and Commonwealth Preservation Group for a virtual public information session on Thursday, September 14 at 6:00 p.m. to share a new survey initiative to document historic places in Virginia connected to the history of African American watermen. This effort is part of the Chesapeake Mapping Initiative, which aims to identify and map African American history across the Chesapeake watershed.
Attendees will learn more about the Chesapeake Mapping Initiative and the African American Watermen Project, and will have the opportunity to provide input to the project team. Register and learn more at VDHR’s project website.
